History

The Ignatian Spirituality Program was started in 2004 by Fr. Stephen Yavorsky, S.J. as a Denver-based outreach of Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House. Its mission is to make the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola available to members of the Denver-area Jesuit apostolate and others. The program began by offering LightWorks, a 14-session group introduction to Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises, and individual spiritual direction. It quickly grew to include giving the full Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life to individuals and a subsequent program to train prayer companions and directors of the Spiritual Exercises. Fr. Yavorsky served as the program’s Director for eight years and built up a team of spiritual directors who now lead the Program. Current program offerings can be found under the Retreats link.

On January 1, 2014, the Jesuits of the Missouri Province transferred sponsorship of the Program to St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, making the Program an official ministry of the Parish. The Program offices and meeting spaces are located in the St. Ignatius Loyola Family Center.
